Play Golf Online and Make a Difference
We will be having a special event at Shot Online 2009 to help with the research of ALS. Join us in a good cause to support the research towards a cure for ALS. We will be donating $1000 to Driving 4 Life who is teamed up with ALS TDI. With the help of online players who participate, we have the chance at doubling the donation. Help raise money in finding a cure for ALS by simply joining us in the game online. Get in the game at Shotonline.gamescampus.com and play one 18 hole game at the “Sosori” golf course in the game. There will be no green fee to play all 18 holes and it only takes about 20 minutes to get through all 18 holes!
This tournament style online game event will not cost you anything to participate - just get in and have a good time. Turn in your score card when you are finished and you are all set. The donations will be going to Driving4Life, “America’s premier fundraising campaign supporting ALS research through the game of golf.”

All funds raised through Driving 4 Life supports ALS research efforts at ALS TDI (formerly the ALS Therapy Development Institute), a non-profit biotech.
What is ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks motor neurons in the brain (upper motor neurons) and spinal cord (lower motor neurons). These motor neurons control the movement of voluntary muscles. When the motor neurons can no longer send impulses to the muscles due to ALS, the muscles begin to waste away (atrophy), causing increased muscle weakness. The death of motor neurons, or nerve cells, makes it impossible for the brain to control muscles or signal them to move.
Event Period
May 1, 2009 ~ May 14, 2009

Shot Online Golf Membership Rebate
Biggest news this week other than online games happens to be the Swine Flu, I did my part by eating all beef hot dogs and turkey bacon:)
On the gaming front Its been a few months but i’m back playing Shot Online Golf. After playing offline and shooting my first par ever i felt motivated to come back and play a few rounds. I played a few game matches at Rufus Arena which helped me level up to 38 now (Woo Hoo!). I also tried playing Cue Online our online billiard game which has gotten way harder and almost made me want to throw my mouse across the office (But i digress).
Don’t know if all of you also know but MLB Dugout Heroes went in commercial! For those just tunning in that means you can start buying in game items like draft cards and other fun items to spice up your MLB teams. Everything seems to be stable so far so as reported by the game masters but if anyone has questions or concerns please send your email to mlbdugoutheroes@gamescampus dot com.
I normally don’t like to promote other games but this game really caught my attention today on the news. Its a game called Dossergames a “Rags To Riches” game where you start out as a bum and climb up the ladder of success by begging for money, digging through trash to turn it into treasure- haha! In this economy why play the game when you can do that in real life! Funny aside, i think its a brilliant game idea but irony is these guys aren’t going to reach their lofty $200Million revenue goal within the next 5 years by implementing subscription based model business for an online free-to-try game.
All the while China’s online games market raked in an impressive $2.8 billion in 2008, up 63% according to Pearl Research’s latest estimates. Why not take a few lessons from the boys far east?

One of the biggest advantages the PC has over consoles right now is that there are a lot more games available for the PC than there are for consoles, particularly when it comes to multiplayer online games. Not only are the vast majority of MMOGs designed for the PC, but PC gamers also have the option to play MUDs, email games, browser games, and a wide variety of titles that are distributed digitally or available as free downloads.

Online Baseball Game Free to Play on PC!
As mentioned above, another clear advantage PCs have over consoles is that you can use them for a lot more than playing games. Furthermore, if you like to modify games or edit maps for them, a PC is essential, and you have to take a break from gaming sometime to read gaming sites.
PCs are always on the cutting edge of gaming technology. The current generation of consoles with high-definition capabilities did briefly narrow the gap, but well-equipped PCs continue to offer superior graphics. Computer monitors can be found with considerably higher resolutions than HDTVs, and the latest multi-core processors and dual GPU solutions make it possible to build a remarkably powerful game system. Even if a console offers incredible technology upon its release, there is no way for it to compete with the rapid hardware advancements that have become a way of life in the computer industry.
When it comes online gaming, PCs give people a variety of ways to connect to the Internet, and to each other, which aren’t restricted to proprietary services or software. Different brands of computer and event different operating systems generally communicate very well with one another. This is quite different from services like Xbox Live, for example, which is the only option available to Xbox users that want to play online, and is closed to everyone that doesn’t have an Xbox.
Finally, as your PC ages, there is a reasonable chance of extending its gaming life with a component upgrade, although it can get a bit messy.
