Its that time of the year to go vote for the 2009 All-Star Game. There are two ways to vote. You can attend baseball games and cast your ballot on paper, or you can go online and vote up to 25 times per e-mail address (25, because that is the number of home games where they will hand out ballots). Here are some names that will likely show up at All-Star Game this year:
American League
1B - Miguel Cabrera
2B - Dustin Pedroia
SS - Derek Jeter
3B - Chone Figgins
C - Joe Mauer
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Ichiro Suzuki
OF - Grady Sizemore
National League
1B - Albert Pujols
2B - Rickie Weeks
SS - Cristian Guzman
3B - Chipper Jones
C - Chris Iannetta
OF - Adam Dunn
OF - Willy Taveras
OF - Ryan Ludwick
Interesting history of the All-Star game and scandals associated with the voting. If you haven’t voted yet, go vote!

Biggest news this week other than online games happens to be the Swine Flu, I did my part by eating all beef hot dogs and turkey bacon:)
On the gaming front Its been a few months but i’m back playing Shot Online Golf. After playing offline and shooting my first par ever i felt motivated to come back and play a few rounds. I played a few game matches at Rufus Arena which helped me level up to 38 now (Woo Hoo!). I also tried playing Cue Online our online billiard game which has gotten way harder and almost made me want to throw my mouse across the office (But i digress).
Don’t know if all of you also know but MLB Dugout Heroes went in commercial! For those just tunning in that means you can start buying in game items like draft cards and other fun items to spice up your MLB teams. Everything seems to be stable so far so as reported by the game masters but if anyone has questions or concerns please send your email to mlbdugoutheroes@gamescampus dot com.
I normally don’t like to promote other games but this game really caught my attention today on the news. Its a game called Dossergames a “Rags To Riches” game where you start out as a bum and climb up the ladder of success by begging for money, digging through trash to turn it into treasure- haha! In this economy why play the game when you can do that in real life! Funny aside, i think its a brilliant game idea but irony is these guys aren’t going to reach their lofty $200Million revenue goal within the next 5 years by implementing subscription based model business for an online free-to-try game.
All the while China’s online games market raked in an impressive $2.8 billion in 2008, up 63% according to Pearl Research’s latest estimates. Why not take a few lessons from the boys far east?

Darryl “Togikagi” Gangloff of Allakhazam writes about his thoughts on whether or not consoles have arrived to the MMO world…the question really should be “Are we as gamers ready to pay fees on top of fees to play?”
“Personally, I have a Wii and Xbox 360 on the shelf under my television for those times I just don’t feel like sitting in front of my PC to play games. I even have most of my older systems, ranging back to my original NES, for when I get nostalgic. But with the current trend of companies such as Sony Online Entertainment pushing for console MMOs to become commonplace, will there be a time in the near future where players are more likely to pick up a controller than a keyboard to enter a virtual world? It’s certainly a possibility, but the slumping sales of the PlayStation 3 may make it difficult to entice gamers to try out an MMO from the comfort of their couches when their PCs will do just fine.
Let me get one thing out of the way: I was an avid player of Final Fantasy XI on my PS2. I carted that console around to play the game at a friend’s house where our static party would jump in Vana’diel on a combination of PS2s and PCs. That cross-compatibility of systems to enter the same world was a key factor for us and, in my mind, shows that console MMOs can certainly be successful and fun. Despite the fact PS2 support has kept the graphics of FFXI lagging behind the competition, the game still sells on the Xbox 360 and has a loyal fan base. But will upcoming games such as SOE’s DC Universe Online, The Agency and Free Realms garner the same loyalty considering the sales figures and price tag of the PS3?”
